American Idol producers want Howard Stern to replace Simon

NY POST: “American Idol” producers are eager to hire Howard Stern to replace Simon Cowell as the show’s tough-talking judge, sources tell Page Six.

An insider said that producers of the hit Fox show say Stern, America’s highest-paid radio personality, is their top choice to take over from Cowell, who leaves at the end of this season. They approached the King of All Media after he repeatedly mentioned on-air that his exclusive Sirius XM Radio deal expires next January and he was open to other offers. Cowell was paid $50 million a year.

A source connected to “Idol” said, “It’s one of the few shows that could compete with Stern’s $100 million-a-year Sirius contract, and ‘Idol’ bosses think he’d be even nastier than Simon.

“They know he would be great TV and would clash with the other judges such as Ellen DeGeneres and the contestants. ‘Idol’ will do what it takes to sign him.”

But a second source told us Stern hasn’t made the “Idol” talks easy, and has been giving out mixed messages about his intentions.

“Despite what he’s been saying on-air, Howard isn’t ready to leave radio and would like to stay on at Sirius,” the source said. “We believe this is a ploy to make Sirius pay up and keep him on his huge contract. But if Sirius can’t pay him the money he wants, he may negotiate to film ‘Idol’ on the side.”

Stern is also believed to be reluctant to commit to a show that would require him to tour the US as a judge and spend much of the year in Los Angeles.

He recently said, somewhat cryptically, “I was approached by a major TV network to take over a TV show and leave here and do that next year — and I did turn it down . . . I’m not even sure if I want to be working. I’m waiting to see what happens.”

This will never happen. Even if they moved the show to New York, Stern would not travel around the country to listen to the initial auditions. Stern would love to take the job, considering he is into the show more than a prepubescent girl. I think he would be awesome on it, insulting Seacrest, Ellen, Randy, and most likely key Fox executives by the second show.

Let’s not forget this is another show or concept that Stern claimed to conceive, because he used to have 3 record producers on his show to listen to amateur bands, and have them fight for a contract. Of course Stern has interviewed Kevin Bacon, therefore by 6 or less degrees of separation, Stern has invented every concept ever used on TV since Stern’s first shows on college radio. He will inform you of this fact repeatedly as well.

This is nothing but a PR move by FOX to promote Idol, on a FOX owned newspaper, as a viable show. This comes on the heels of the mass realization that the show has grown stale, lost it’s key talent, and was gay from the beginning. Not homosexual gay, but just gay like having sex with another man in his anus.

This is the last you will hear of this, unless you listen to The Howard Stern Radio Show, where he will talk about it repeatedly, and refer to it until he retires.

In a crooked little town, they were lost and never found Fallen Leif, fallen leif, fallen leif… on the ground

This week, former teen idol Leif Garrett was busted at an LA Metrolink station for possession of  black tar heroin. He had been arrested previously in 2006 an LA subway for carrying heroin and Quaaludes.

Garrett was initially stopped by police because “He was sweating and shaking profusely”, a police spokesperson stated. Claiming that he was nervous because of his prior run-ins with police, he eventually admitted that he was carrying the drug in one of his shoes.

When will Leif Garrett learn to stay away from the LA public transportation? Oh, and he should also know that drugs are bad too.

Here he is during better times appearing on the TV show CHiPS:

Some Miami residents were treated to an advisory sent out by Protect Our Children, Inc. warning them about an alleged child predator: Pete Townshend, guitarist from the rock band The Who.

Why are they targeting Townshend? In 2003, he was placed on a UK sex-offender list for charges related to online child pornography. The Who will be in Miami on February 7th to play during Superbowl half-time.

Former Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan’s 70-year-old father Daniel died at her childhood home in Stoneham, MA.  Her brother Mark (age 45) has been arrested in connection with Daniel’s death.

Mark Kerrigan had been living at the home of his parents for unknown reasons, and in a drunken state, wanted to use the kitchen phone at about 1:00am. Daniel Kerrigan refused to let him use the phone, and a struggle ensued. Mark grabbed his father by the neck when Daniel fell to the ground of an apparent heart-attack.

Paramedics arrived and took the elder Kerrigan to the hospital, but were unable to revive him.

Police had to use pepper spray to subdue Mark, who was described as “belligerent and combative” by the arresting officers.

Funeral services for Daniel Kerrigan are planned for this week.

Free Gary Coleman!

Today my man Gary Coleman was arrested in Santaquin, Utah on a warrant from a previous count of domestic assault. He’s being held on almost $2,000 bail.

Poor guy can’t get a break. Between a history of hospital visits, thieving parents, and being harassed by overzealous fans, Coleman just can’t seem to be able to live his life. Where can I donate towards his bail?
