AP: NEW YORK – Longtime CNN host Lou Dobbs shocked his viewers Wednesday by announcing that he would be leaving the network effective immediately.
He said CNN had allowed him to be released from his contract early and that he was considering a number of options for the next stage in his career.
CNN’s average prime-time audience was third behind Fox and MSNBC during October, and it was even eclipsed by sister network HLN among younger viewers, according to the Nielsen Co.
Good riddance you xenophobic, old coot. I wonder if the fact that so many groups have called for his firing had anything to do with CNN releasing him from his contract so easily. Dobbs jumped the shark when he started his rantings of illegal aliens coming across the border to pillage and plunder. Dobbs hit the wall when he supported the “birther” conspiracy, claiming Obama was born in Kenya. In other words, Fox News will most likely be making him an offer he can’t refuse.
“For too long, CNN provided Lou Dobbs with its stamp of approval as he pursued a dangerous, one-sided and all too often false conspiracy tinged crusade against immigrants,” said Eric Burns, president of Media Matters. “This is a happy day for all those who care about this nation of immigrants and believe in the power of media to elevate the political discourse.”
For a history of the evil old man that is Lou Dobbs, here is Media Matters again, with their collection of his hate speech, lies, slander, and just plain crazy ramblings.
TPM: Sarah Palin’s public pronouncements have now reached an amazing point — where even Fox News is fact-checking her.
As Fox News anchor Bret Baier noted this evening, picking up on a Politico report, Palin said this past Friday that there had been a lot of “change” of late, and talked about the dollar coin — how the phrase “In God We Trust” had been moved to the rim of the coin, rather than on the face. “Who makes a decision like that?” said Palin, seemingly pointing to the Obama administration, adding: “It’s a disturbing trend.”
However, the coins were in fact commissioned in 2005 by the Republican-led government of the time. And as Baier adds, Congress acted specifically to change this in 2007, and Fox displayed a James K. Polk presidential coin with the phrase on the coin’s face.
John Allen Muhammad, the mastermind behind the D.C. sniper attacks in 2002, was executed tonight by lethal injection in Virginia. He had been on death row after his conviction for killing 10 people in the Washington DC metro area.
Muhammad proclaimed his innocence until the end and did not utter any final words before he died.
His accomplice, Lee Boyd Malvo is serving multiple life prison terms with no chance of parole.

Westboro Baptist Church, the “God Hates Fags” troupe, famous for protesting at military funerals and claiming that God is punishing the country for its tolerance of homosexuality, was spotted this morning protesting outside Sidwell Friends, the school attended by Sasha and Malia Obama.
Protesters were carrying signs with anti-gay, anti-abortion and anti-Obama slogans, slowing down traffic all along Wisconsin Avenue this morning.
Interscope Record’s recording artist Mos Def made history with his 2009 album The Ecstatic.
The Ecstatic was released as a first ever “music tee”, a T-shirt with the cover art on the front, the track list on the back, and a tag containing a code for a digital download online.
No word on whether or not other artists will follow this innovation, but they should think about it because physical albums will soon be a thing of the past.
Yes, it’s true. Obese Americans and Homer Simpson can rejoice as cheeseburger served on Krispy Kreme donuts is now available. This donut-burger packs an astounding 1,500-calorie, more calories than many people eat in an entire day.
Made with a burger patty, bacon, and cheese served in a grilled Krispy Kreme donut bun, over 17,000 of these burgers were sold recently at a fair in Massachusetts.
HUFF: 11:07 PM ET — House health care bill gets votes needed for passage. 220 members of Congress — including one Republican, Rep. Joseph Cao of Louisiana — voted in favor of health care reform, advancing the legislation by the slimmist of margins. Forty-nine Democrats voted against the bill, along with 176 Republicans.
Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) cast vote #218, solidifying passage. Speaker Pelosi was “near sobbing,” HuffPost’s Ryan Grim reports.
10:30 PM ET — GOP health care alternative rejected. The Republicans’ alternative health care bill was voted down in the House, 176-258
10:19 PM ET — Blue Dog Democrats’ anti-abortion amendment passes. The House has passed a provision advanced by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) that severely restricts women’s reproductive health choices under the health reform bill.
Any political junkie has heard the old tale of LBJ’s dirty campaign tricks.
During LBJ’s first congressional race, when he supposedly told his campaign manager to begin circulating the rumor that his main opponent, a pig farmer, was practicing animal husbandry a bit too literally. “Jesus, Lyndon,” the campaign manager was said to have responded. “Nobody’s going to believe that.” “Yeah,” quoth LBJ, “but I want to hear the son of a bitch deny it.”
Well now I’d like to turn your attention to another person who practices such vile techniques. Glenn Beck. Glenn claims to be a Libertarian, and his 1 hour show on Fox News makes Alex Jones look sane. He makes some of the most unbelievable, outlandish, disgusting claims about his political enemies. Yet he manages never to be called out for it, much less sued for it because he hides behind one punctuation mark. The question mark.
If you have ever watched his show, you will hear him use this techineque with surgeon like precision. “I am not saying Obama is a Marxist, I am just asking the question, is Obama a Marxist?” “I’m not saying there are microchips in the swine flu vaccine, but I must ask, is there microchips in the vaccine?” Glenn floats these questions through satellites, directly into the brains of the mouth breathers that watch his show, and gets paid millions doing so.
But now the tables have turned, and the man who “asks the questions others are afraid to ask,” is being asked a question he is afraid to answer.
Did Glenn Beck Rape And Murder A Young Girl In 1990?
Sure the idea that a man with such boyish good looks would have to force himself on any woman is hard to swallow. He is also a very sensitive man, as he cries at the drop of a hat, so I would think murdering a young girl would be too much for him. Well the truth is, most likely, he did not rape or murder anything other than his knowledge of American history. It was simply an internet meme, that started on FARK.com, to satirize the way he fashions his bogus arguments as questions, to protect himself from litigation. The meme itself was based on a Gilbert Godried joke during the Roast of Bob Sagat.
On the site, he made it clear that it was a parody site. As I stated before it was just a play on the way Beck makes allegations, then ends them with a question mark to cover his ass. Well Glenn Beck felt it was actioanble. He actually sued the domain name owner. Why you ask? Was it because he thought it was slander, or libel? NO! He sued on the grounds that people might feel that the site was run and owned by Glenn Beck himself. He filed a WIPO complaint, claiming that “Name Withheld” was violating Glenn Becks trademark! Apparently Beck not only lacks journalistic integrity, he also lacks common fucking sense.
Of course “Name Withheld” won the complaint. In addition the suit brought more national, and international attention to the site, and Glenn Beck’s alleged actions in 1990.
In conclusion, I would personally like to say that I in NO way believe that Glenn Beck Raped and Murdered a Girl in 1990.
NTS: Premiere Radio Networks host and FOX News Channel personality Glenn Beck unexpectedly left his national radio show early today, saying he was not feeling well. Regular show contributor and longtime Beck associate Pat Gray stepped in to finish the last couple of hours of the show and NTS MediaOnline Today has since learned that Beck suffered an appendicitis attack. Christopher Balfe, President of Mercury Radio Arts, Beck’s production company, confirmed that Beck is having his appendix removed today at an undisclosed hospital.
