Today a friend of mine reminded me that Michael Jackson released a song called “Morphine” on his 1997 album “Blood on the Dance Floor” in which he repeatedly referenced taking Morphine and Demerol.  And no one saw this coming?

Bernard Madoff gets maximum 150 years

NEW YORK – Convicted swindler Bernard Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison Monday for fraud so extensive that the judge said he needed to send a symbolic message to those who might imitate his fraud and to victims who need relief.

Applause broke out in the crowded Manhattan courtroom after U.S. District Judge Denny Chin issued the maximum sentence to the 71-year-old defendant, who said he sought no forgiveness and knew he must live “with this pain, this torment, for the rest of my life.”

Chin rejected a request by Madoff’s lawyer for leniency and said he disagreed that victims of the fraud were seeking mob vengeance.

“Here the message must be sent that Mr. Madoff’s crimes were extraordinarily evil and that this kind of manipulation of the system is not just a bloodless crime that takes place on paper, but one instead that takes a staggering toll,” Chin said.

The judge said the estimate that Madoff has cost his victims more than $13 billion was conservative because it did not include money from feeder funds.

“Objectively speaking, the fraud here was staggering,” he said.

Pawlenty won’t delay if court rules for Franken

Governor Tim Pawlenty (R-Minn.) said Sunday he has no plans for further delay in certifying the results of the state’s disputed U.S. Senate election so that Republican Norm Coleman can pursue a federal court challenge.

Pawlenty told CNN that he would abide by whatever ruling the Minnesota Supreme Court makes in the contest, where Democrat Al Franken appears to have an upper hand.

“I’m prepared to sign [the certification] as soon as they give the green light,” Pawlenty said. “I’m not going to defy an order of the Minnesota Supreme Court. That would be a dereliction of my duty.”

Pawlenty said he had no plans to slow up the process to allow federal litigation to play out, but would abide by any federal court stay Coleman might obtain. “If that doesn’t happen promptly or it drags out for any period of time, then we need to move ahead,” Pawlenty said.

RIP Legendary TV Pitchman Billy Mays

TV Pitchman Billy Mays was found dead on Sunday morning by his wife Deborah, just one day after hitting his head during a rough landing of a US Air flight from Philidelphia to Tampa. He was 49 years old.

Billy spoke to Fox News in Tampa about the incident, stating,

“All of a sudden as we hit… you know it was just the hardest hit, all the things from the ceiling started dropping. It hit me on the head, but I got a hard head.”

And he wrote about ot on Twitter:

The cause of death has not been confirmed at this time.

Perez Hilton = Perez Hit-on

Washed-up celebrity “journalist” Perez Hilton is falling hard from the Hollywood bandwagon he has been so desperate to ride. Known for his celebrity blog PerezHilton.com, Perez is notorious for spiteful commentary, bitter outing of celebrities, and his narcissistic second (and third) person writing style. Oh, and he often gets his stories wrong.

His descent into obscurity started when Perez insisted that he had the inside scoop on Fidel Castro’s death (Fidel is very much alive). Then a few nights ago, Perez was allegedly punched in his chubby face by the manager of the Black-Eyed Peas Polo Molina (a tearful Perez initially claimed he was actually assaulted by Will.I.Am).  To make matters worse, he released a tearful video statement, in which he came across looking like a real-life version of Baby Huey. His most recent dispicable act was today, after hearing about the death of Michael Jackson, Perez quickly posted that MJ’s death was a hoax (He took this blog entry down, but a screenshot is below)

Finally, the celebs have had enough and are speaking out on Twitter against Perez’s reign of hate.

Michael Jackson Dies

Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon and paramedics were unable to revive him.

Michael is survived by three children (and a few that survived him, if you catch what I am saying.): Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince “Blanket” Michael Jackson II.

Jackson had 13 number one hits during his solo career.

Michael Jackson Had a Heart Attack

Michael Jackson was taken to the hospital during a cardiac arrest. TMZ is reporting this right now.

We’ve just learned Michael Jackson was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Los Angeles … and we’re told it was cardiac arrest and that paramedics administered CPR in the ambulance.

He was picked up at his home around 20 minutes ago — we’re told his mother is on the way to visit him.

Farrah Fawcett Has Died

Farrah Fawcett, the actress and model who was best known for her role as sexy detective Jill Monroe in the 1970′s television hit “Charlie’s Angels” died today after a long battle with cancer. She was 62.
