RIP Teddy Pendergrass

R&B soul singer Teddy Pendergrass died as a result of colon cancer. He was 59 years old.

Formerly the drummer for The Cadillacs and then Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, Pendergrass eventually emerged as a lead singer and had several solo hits during the 1970’s.

In 1982, Pendergrass was driving his new Rolls Royce with his passenger Tenika Watson (a transsexual nightclub performer) when the brakes on his car failed. Pendergrass and Watson were trapped in the wreckage for over 30 minutes. Pendergrass suffered spinal cord injuries and was paralyzed from the waist down.
