Posted in Deaths, Entertainment, Music with tags , , , , , , on June 30, 2009 by Ro

Today a friend of mine reminded me that Michael Jackson released a song called “Morphine” on his 1997 album “Blood on the Dance Floor” in which he repeatedly referenced taking Morphine and Demerol.  And no one saw this coming?

Morphine

David Carradine’s “Reps” Just Hurt His Rep

DavidCarradine

TMZ has reported that a representative for David Carradine has stated that Carradine’s death was not intentional but was accidental. And the sentence “the BBC is now reporting that David’s body was found hanging with a rope around his neck and “other parts of his body”” reeks of autoerotic asphyxiation much like how Michael Hutchence, lead singer of INXS is reputed to have died.

Who knew that a 72 year old could be so kinky?

David Carradine’s Rep: Death Was ‘Accidental’

Posted Jun 4th 2009 3:06PM by TMZ Staff

We just spoke to a rep for David Carradine, who claims the actor’s death was not a suicide.

The rep said David’s death was “accidental.” And there’s this … the BBC is now reporting that David’s body was found hanging with a rope around his neck and “other parts of his body.”

Carradine’s body was found nude, hanging in a closet.

David’s rep added, “We can confirm 100% that he never would have committed suicide. It was an accidental death. Everybody is in shock.”

Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series “Kung Fu” who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room and was believed to have committed suicide.

A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.

The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was found Thursday hanged in his luxury hotel room.

It said Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot a movie and had been staying at the hotel since Tuesday.

The newspaper said Carradine could not be contacted after he failed to appear for a meal with the rest of the film crew on Wednesday, and that his body was found by a hotel maid at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. The name of the movie was not immediately available.

It said a preliminary police investigation found that he had hanged himself with a cord used with the room’s curtains. It cited police as saying he had been dead at least 12 hours and there was no sign that he had been assaulted.

A police officer at Bangkok’s Lumpini precinct station would not confirm the identity of the dead man to The Associated Press, but said the luxury Swissotel Nai Lert Park hotel had reported that a male guest killed himself there.

Carradine was a leading member of a venerable Hollywood acting family that included his father, character actor John Carradine, and brother Keith.

In all, he appeared in more than 100 feature films with such directors as Martin Scorsese, Ingmar Bergman and Hal Ashby.

But he was best known for his role as Kwai Chang Caine, a Shaolin priest traveling the 1800s American frontier West in the TV series “Kung Fu,” which aired in 1972-75.

He reprised the role in a mid-1980s TV movie and played Caine’s grandson in the 1990s syndicated series “Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.”

He returned to the top in recent years as the title character in Quentin Tarantino’s two-part saga “Kill Bill.”

Ok I admit it… I only knew who Danny Gans was because every time I’ve been to Las Vegas, his name and photo was plastered all over the city and on every magazine. I didn’t even know what his act was… magic, comedy, singing… I had no clue.

I just found out today that Danny Gans was a “musical impressionist” (whatever that is) because TMZ has reported that he died. He was only 52, which is a young age to go. Especially if you’re a millionaire.

Adenhart was a passenger in a silver Mitsubishi Eclipse that was broadsided in an intersection about 12:30 a.m. by a minivan that apparently ran a red light, police said.

The impact spun around both vehicles, and one then struck another car but that driver was not hurt, police said.

The minivan driver fled the crash on foot and was captured about 30 minutes later. Police identified him as Andrew Thomas Gallo, 22, of Riverside, and said he had a suspended license because of a previous drunken driving conviction.

Preliminary results indicated Gallo’s blood-alcohol level was above the legal limit of .08 percent, police Lt. Kevin Hamilton said.

That Guy Who Played That Dude On That TV Show Died. He Was Only 33.

Actor Andy Hallet, who played a demon on the television show ‘Angel’, died at the age of 33 from congestive heart failure. Link

Andy Hallett, who portrayed a charming, karaoke-singing demon on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spinoff show Angel, has died at the age of 33.

Hallett was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Sunday after suffering breathing problems. He died there, following a five-year battle with congestive heart disease, his agent, Pat Brady, said Tuesday.

Born in Osterville, Mass., Hallett moved to Los Angeles at the age of 23. He worked as a messenger at a talent agency and eventually scored a job as an assistant to the wife of Buffy and Angel creator Joss Whedon.

After seeing Hallett perform karaoke, Whedon asked the lanky young man to audition for a new character on Angel, which starred David Boreanaz as the titular brooding vampire with a soul.

Described by his father as “a very gregarious, happy young man,” Hallett became a fan favourite on the show as Lorne, the red-horned, green-skinned, lounge lizard-inspired owner of a demon karaoke bar.

Lorne, who could deduce elements of the future for those he heard sing, soon joined Angel ‘s group of do-gooders. The show ended in 2004.

According to Brady, Hallett was diagnosed with his heart condition as the show came to an end and had been in and out of hospital over the past five years.

The actor is survived by his parents, Dave and Lori Hallett.
