AP — A court commissioner on Friday dismissed criminal charges against Kanye West and his road manager stemming from their scuffle with photographers last year.
Misdemeanor charges were filed after West and his manager were arrested on Sept. 11, 2008, after an altercation with two photographers at Los Angeles International Airport. The struggle was recorded and broadcast by celebrity Web site TMZ.
This is actually bad news for Kanye. The only chance he had at rebuilding his career, was a jail stint to increase his street cred. Sure it is hard to act gangster with a Louis Vuitton backpack on, but it was his only hope.
Here is an AP report on the incident. Notice they subtly use the Love Lockdown pun as well.
Last night, L’enfant terrible Kanye West appeared on NBC’s Jay Leno Show as the musical guest, but in light of his public tantrum, he agreed to sit down with Jay for a few questions.
Of course, Leno tossed him some softballs. And Kanye came off looking like the self-pitying crybaby man-child he is. When asked how things were going, Kanye said:
“Yeah, it’s been extremely difficult, just dealing with the fact that I hurt someone or took anything away, you know, from a talented artist or from anyone, because I only wanted to help people.”
What a sweetheart. He only wants to help people. Great guy he is. And the question “What would your mother think?” appeared to be a pre-arranged set-up by Leno for Kanye to blame his behavior on the death of his mother.
Check out the video here:
Some questions Jay forgot to ask:
Did you really think that Beyonce’s Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it) was the best video of all time?
Follow-up to above question, assuming Kanye answers “yes”: Are you retarded?
Have you ever considered putting a nipple on your bottle of Henny so you don’t spill? Or use a sippy cup?
Do you like fishsticks?
Anyhow Kanye is going to take some time off. Hopefully he will use this time to mature and learn to sing so he doesn’t have to use auto-tune on his next album.
Last night, Kanye posted an apology to Taylor Swift on his blog, Kanye Universe City, which was promptly removed (perhaps until he could sober up). But MTV was able to capture and post a screenshot before the evidence was tampered with:
This morning, Kanye’s site was down for “maintenence”. Now the site is back up and a new apology has been issued:
But will his fans be forgiving? Fellow rappers, producers, wrestlers, everyone seems to have an opinion on his antics and none of them are positive. I can’t decide which is worse… bullying an 18 year-old girl or releasing an album with auto-tuned vocals. He’s done both. Double whammy.
Kanye West let his ego get out of control and has made an ass of himself… again.
During tonight’s VMA’s, Taylor Swift was making her acceptance speech (yes yes, she sucks. But so did everyone she was up against) and Kanye rushed the stage, took the mic, and praised Beyonce. Taylor Swift had just won Best Female Video, beating out Lady GaGa, Pink, Katy Perry, and Beyonce.
What a bully. And an asshole.
I’m sure that Beyonce was embarrassed as well. How could she not be?
Kanye West is pretty arogant. I personally think it is awesome, but I have a feeling there will be some backlash for this.
The Superficial: “You know everyone loves and respects Michael but times change. It’s so sad to see Michael gone but it makes a path for a new King of Pop, and I’m willing to take that on. There’s nobody who can match me in sales and in Kanye West respect so it only makes sense for me to take over Michael’s crown and become the new King,” said West.
“First there was Elvis, then there was Michael, now in the 21st century it’s Kanye’s time to rule. I have nothing but respect for Michael but someone needs to pick up where he left off and there’s nobody better than me to do that. I am the new King of Pop.”
I am involved in hosting an event to support Obama’s Health Care plan, and to stress the importance of a single payer option in it.
One of my jobs was to book a band to play. Unfortunately due to the addition of a teleconference with US Congressmen John Conyers Jr, we had to forgo the band.
The band was not going to be paid, and was going to perform for free. They would only get the satisfaction of helping a good cause.
One man who volunteered to play was Colton Berry.
I think everyone should check out his music because anyone who can play Kanye West acoustic is just awesome, and he is a great guy.
